B Lab and the B Corp community present the official B Corp website for consumers.
The first official German B Corp website is now available and aims to help consumers support brands, products, or services that have a positive impact on the environment. The non-profit organization B Lab officially presented the new platform—developed in collaboration with food manufacturer Danone Deutschland GmbH and the agency &why—to members of the B Corp community and press representatives on July 4 in Berlin.
B Corp is a global movement with over 6,500 certified companies in 89 countries, all committed to acting in a socially and environmentally sustainable manner. The goal of B Corp is to make entrepreneurship a commitment where businesses not only act as sustainably as possible but also create societal value.
“The topic of B Corp is becoming increasingly relevant in the German economy,” says Andrew Green, Managing Director of B Lab Germany. “Already, 73 German companies hold the official title of ‘B Corp-certified company,’ including Weleda, Just Spices, share, &why, and Danone Germany. This has led to a significant increase in consumer interest and demand regarding B Corp and the value of the certification. For this reason, B Lab, Danone, and the agency &why developed the German B Corp website with the slogan ‘Choose Better, Choose B Corp.'”
For Green, the launch of the website is just the starting point for the ‘Choose Better’ campaign: “Our long-term vision is to raise awareness among more people and companies about the message behind B Corp.”
The website provides consumers with an overview of B Corp and detailed information about what the B Corp certification entails. It also highlights the added value of the B Corp label for consumers and lists the brands in Germany that are already B Corp certified, helping to simplify purchasing decisions. The website stands out for its interactivity, taking visitors on a journey.
“We are very proud to be part of the steadily growing B Corp movement,” emphasizes Nadine Küster, Director of Legal, Sustainability, and Communication at Danone DACH, a company officially certified in all four of its categories since January 2023. “It was important to us to support the development of the website to help our consumers make informed decisions.” In Germany, the label is not yet as well known as in other countries, where there are already entire shelves in supermarkets with certified products, says Küster. “That’s why we want to provide interested consumers with a platform through the B Corp website where they can learn more about the background of the certification.”
